“Meditation is a way for nourishing and blossoming the divinity within you.”  Amit Ray

I have only recently started using meditation as part of my self care routine.  In the past it was something that didn't appeal to me at all.  It was when I realised I needed to slow down, take stock of my own self, my inner thoughts that I have started to embrace the practice.

I have been exploring meditation and its benefits and thought I would share with you.

Meditation is an age-old practice that can be traced back to Eastern religions and philosophy. Though its exact purpose has been subject to debate over the years, meditation is now commonly accepted as a way to improve mental well-being and achieve a sense of inner peace. Despite this, many people are put off by the thought of meditation because they believe it to be something reserved for people with more experience or who are more spiritual than they are. In reality, though, meditation is a practice that can be adapted to your daily life.

What is meditation?

Meditation is the practice of turning your attention to a single point of focus. It can be used to cultivate qualities like peace, calm, and focus.

One common type of meditation is mindfulness meditation. In this practice, you simply focus on your breath and allow your thoughts to come and go without judgment. This type of meditation can be helpful in training your mind to stay focused and present in the moment.

The benefits of meditation

The health benefits of meditation are vast because it can relax the whole body. Meditation is known to improve respiratory system as well as boosting memory power and makes our sleep more refreshing.

The mental health benefits of meditation can include better focus and concentration, improved self-awareness and self-esteem, lower levels of stress and anxiety, and fostering kindness.

How to get started in meditation

For me, I needed guidance, a place to start, as I had no idea.  I had a space I knew would work, just needed tools to begin.  I use Fiton as my fitness app for exercise, yoga etc and discovered they have all sorts of meditations.  It has been just what I wanted.  If this doesn't work for you there are many avenues out there.  So many apps, places on youtube, find a good fit for you!

And don't think you need a good portion of time to meditate.  Most of the time I just do 5 to 10 minutes.  It is what is right for you - not anyone else.

Hope you have enjoyed my little peek into meditation.

Till Next Time

Stay Inspired
